1. Why fluorinated polyurethane? Fluorinated polyurethane created by fluorinated polyol and aliphatic polyisocyanate (cross-linker) is polyurethane with the best performances This fluorinated polyurethane is the paint/coating that has the best resistances of weather, chemicals, corrosion, stain, mildew, and abrasion. 2. Why fluorinated polyurethane has best weather and chemical resistance? Fluorine-carbon bond is the strongest bond among all chemical bonds. UV, acids, alkalis, salts, fuels, lubricants, de-icing, solvents, and many other chemicals attack hydrocarbon polymers easily, but fluoropolymers resist all those attack. 3. Why fluorinated polyurethane has the best corrosion resistance? Fluorinated polyurethane has the lowest water and oxygen permeability. 4. Why fluorinated polyurethane has the best mildew and fungi resistances? In nature there is no fluorinated organic material, no genetic codes for microbial to attack fluorinated organic materials. That is why fluorine-carbon bonds are introduced into new antibiotics for avoiding microbe to create resistance to medicines. Fluorinated polyurethane do not require add any fungicide to preserve. The hydrocarbon polyurethane all need addition of fungicide to prevent growth of fungi and mildew. 5. Why fluorinated polyurethane has high stain resistance? Fluorinated polyurethane has the lowest surface energy and the highest chemical resistance. 6. Why do not use Teflon (polytetrafluoroethylene) instead fluorinated polyurethane? Teflon has the best performance among all fluorinated polymers. However, it can not form a coating unless a high temperature is applied to melt Teflon to form a continuous film like Teflon cookware. Fluorinated polyurethane can form a cross-linked coating under ambient temperature. Fluorinated polyurethane has high refractive index and transparency and make coating with brilliant color and high gloss, but Teflon does not such properties. 7. Is the polyisocyanate cross-linker a dangerous material? No! polyisocyanate is not a isocyanate. It is a polymer of isocyanate. Polyisocyanate is a safe material. Polyisocyanate is recognized as a not-restrict by DOT. However, there is a very low concentration (ppm) of free isocyanate left in the polyisocyanate. Follow user instructions provide safe application. 8. How to get fluorinated polyurethane products? Fluonova Inc supplies two components (2k) fluorinated polyurethane (enamel) kits with MiracleCoat® mark. The fluorinated polyurethane 2K kits consists of fluorinated polyol resin part, and aliphatic polyisocyanate (cross-linker) part. 9. What maxing ratio of cross-linker (polyisocyanate) and fluorinated polyol should be used? The ratio of fluorinated polyol : cross-linker (polyisocyanate) = 10 : 0.8 or 100 : 8 Each 1/2 cup of fluorinated polyol add 10 ml of cross-linker, or each cup of fluorinated polyol add 20 ml of cross-linker. Fluonova Inc provides LuxeColor 2010 for spray paint application only, and LuxeColor 2020 for both spray and brush painting. Fluonova Inc also provides cross-linker and 20 ml measuring glass. 10. How to prepare fluorinated polyurethane mixture for painting? For brush painting, in a container pour per 8 ml of cross-linker (polyisocyanate) into 100 ml of fluorinated polyol (LuxeColor2020), and mixing well to form fluorinated polyurethane mixture. For spray painting, in a container pour per 8 ml of cross-linker (polyisocyanate) into 100 ml of fluorinated polyol (LuxeColor 2010), and mixing well to form fluorinated polyurethane mixture.. For spray painting, one also can use 100 ml of fluorinated polyol (LuxeColor 2020) add 10 to 15 ml of acetone or MEK (methyl Ethyl Ketone), and mixing well to form fluorinated polyurethane mixture. The volume measurements allow 5% plus and menus error. 11. How to use the prepared fluorinated polyurethane mixture? Once fluorinated polyurethane mixture prepared, you can pour fluorinated polyurethane mixture into a container of spray gun or a container for brush painting. Follow spray gun painting or brush paint common methods to paint the 2k fluorinated polyurethane mixture. 12. How long it takes fluorinated polyurethane to cure? 2K fluorinated polyurethane paint will cured to form enamel in ambient temperature about 4 hours after the solvent evaporated. Solvent evaporation speed will depend on air movement of the in the space. We may suggest several practical methods, if you are interested. We also may supply catalyst solution, add 0.1 ml catalyst in 100 ml of fluorinated polyol will speed up the curing time to one hour after solvent evaporation. 13. How long the coated surface can be use? It usually need 24 hrs. 14. If the prepared fluorinated polyurethane has left over, can it be used later? Any fluorinated polyurethane mixture left can be reserved for about 2-4 hours, if you add additional acetone or MEK (10-20 ml per 100 ml fluorinated polyurethane mixture) to slow down the cross-linking reactions. 15. Any differences exist between 2k fluorinated polyurethane and common solvent paint/coating on the application practices? Important! The fluorinated polyurethane will become solid, no solvent could dissolve the cured fluorinated polyurethane, and make spray gun or paint brush useless, unless you clean it after job done ASAP. After finishing spray painting job, you need to cleaning 2k fluorinated polyurethane residue in spray gun by adding each time 5 to 8 ml of acetone or MEK in the empty spray gun container, spray the solvent until dry, and repeat at least three to four times. For brush job done, you need wash and clean your brush and remove fluorinated polyurethane residue with 10-15 ml of acetone or MEK, dry it with towel each time, and repeat 5 to 6 times. Then put the paint brush into the original brush paper package. Next time wet the paint brush with little acetone or MEK before use it. 16. What is the coverage of 2k fluorinated polyurethane? On a non-porous surface, at the typical application the theoretical coverage is 400-450 square feet/gallon @ 1.5 mil DFT (Dry Film Thickness). 17. What is other obvious differences with common 2k acrylic polyurethane or epoxy? All exist hydrocarbon paints or coatings including 2k acrylic polyurethane and epoxy have very limited lifetime. They will crack and peel off under sun, water, chemicals, or microbe. Fluorunated polyurethane is a high performance coating. The coated film bonds on porcelain or plastic surfaces strongly. At commercial application conditions, such as hotels, no color or gloss change, no yellowing, no crack or peel off after three years. No hydrocarbon paints or coating could match its properties. 18. How much cross-linker (polyisocyanate) do I need for one gallon of fluorinated polyol? Two bottles of 200 gram cross-linker per gallon of fluorinated polyol. 18. What price do you offer? $80/gallon for formulated fluorinated polyol paint and $9.00/200 gm of cross-linker. Detail Fluorinated polyurethane description: The functional fluorinated polyol part contains hydroxyl functional FEVE fluoropolymer resin, catalysts, pigments (if color is required) additive, and solvent. Polyurethane cross-linker contains aliphatic polyisocyanate. Acetone or MEK extends initiation period and avoid cross-linking reactions before the solvents evaporation. Before the majority evaporation of the solvent the catalyst will not active, that guarantee the fluorinated polyisocyanate mixture will not solidify in the spray gun container and passageway. Functional fluorinated polyol resin solution is supplied with gallon quantity and aliphatic polyisocyanate supplied in 200 gram fluorinated plastic bottles. Application Fields: Architecture
