2K (two component) fluorinated urethane paints including 2K aerosol

DISADVANTAGE of 1K PAINTS

1K paints including 1K aerosols are lacquers. Lacquer is thermoplastic solution. For better properties higher molecular weight of polymers are required. High molecular weight polymers are difficult to be dissolved in solvents. For accepted properties of thermoplastics 1K paints typically 3-5% of solids. Low solids mean low coverage. For same amount of coverage it creates higher VOC pollution.

1K paints is lack of bonding on substrates. It means low adherent. The coatings formed by 1K paints are re-dissoluble by many solvents. Other properties, such as chemical resistance, weathering resistance, mechanical strength, etc., are very poor.

ADVANTAGE of 2K PAINTS INCLUDING 2K AEROSOL PAINTS

2K paints including 2K aerosol are based on two parts of reactive components. The functional polymer component and cross-linker component. After mixing the two reactive components react to form cross-linked macromolecules under the action of catalysts. The cross-linked macromolecules have very high molecular weighs comparing to thermoplastics in 1K paints. 2K systems provide strong chemical bonding on substrates by reactive functional groups. Since the macromolecules are build up by smaller molecules of 2k reactive components, it provides higher solubility, and higher solids. Not only 2k paints have  high performance, but also provide high solid. For example one bottle of 2K aerosol paints has solids which are equal to 5-10 bottles of 1K aerosol paints.

ADVANTAGE of FLUORINATED POLYURETHANE

There are many 2k functional polymers. Epoxy, acrylic (polyester), and isocyanate-urethane are common. However, not all 2K polymers are equal on performance.  Only 2K fluorinated polyurethane has the best weathering, chemicals, solvents, oil, grease, fuel, microbial, and mildew resistance.

High percentage of fluorine contents of fluorinated polyurethane with highest strength of fluorine-carbon bonds provides weathering, UV, water, solvents, chemicals, fuel, oil, grease, and microbial resistance.

Low surface energy, chemical resistance, water and oil repellence provides excellent stain resistance and self-cleaning properties.

Polyisocyanate and isocyanate are different materials. Polyisocyanate is a isocyanate free polymer. Isocyanate (urethane) is a monomer. Isocyanate, especially aromatic isocyanate may cause severe reaction for many people. Common polyurethane formulations use a polyester polyol and aromatic polyisocyanate (for low cost) or aromatic isocyanate (low cost) for higher rate of cross-linking.  Free isocyanate  put applicators in a hazardous environment, which is dangerous due to toxic isocyanate presence.

2K fluorinated polyurethane uses aliphatic polyisocyanate as cross-linker. 2K aerosol fluorinated polyurethane totally eliminate free isocyanate during activation and mixing processes when all chemicals are still in the 2k aerosol can. During spray process there is no free isocyanate.  However, user still need use face mask with active carbon filter to protect from organic solvent. Our new formulation of 2K aerosol contains butyl acetate, acetone, and dimethyl ether. It is xylene free. Acetone is relatively safe to human. Human blood contains very low concentration of acetone. All alcohols contain low concentrate butyl acetate. Dimethyl ether has been used in surgery process. However, when you apply 2K aerosol all those solvents are in high concentration! You need use face mask with organic vapor cartridge like such as 3M 6001 sold in common home improvement store like Lows and Home Deport.

Cross-linked network of fluorinated polyurethane bonds provides chemical resistance, and mechanical strength.

Water repellence and oxygen barrier properties provides excellent corrosion protection for coated metals.

Excellent electric properties on volume resistances, dielectric strength, and low dissipation are beneficial for electronic coatings.

Fluorinated polyurethane provides water repellence and moisture barrier for protect coated surfaces.

Broad optical transparency and high reflect index provides high gloss and brilliant color (reflect 85-88% light @ 60¡ã). By comparison, thermoplastic non-transparent fluoropolymer, such  PVDF (Kynar 500) (reflect 30-35% light @ 60¡ã), is lack of gloss.

Non-combustible and heat resistance provides ideal surfaces for contact with hot substances.

Low fraction coefficient and high mechanical strength provides abrasion, and wear resistance.

Graffiti, tar and 1 K paints on the surfaces can be cleaned with detergent water or solvent wipe.

Mildew and mould can not grow on fluoro-urethane surfaces.

Dirt, bugs, fuel residue, pollutants, tree sap, and pollen will not able to stick to the coating.

Salts, acid, alkali, fuel, coolant, lubricating oil, break fluid, grease, wax will not effect coated surfaces. Those pollutants can be removed with detergent water.

APPLICATION of 2K FLUORINATED POLYURETHANE including 2K AEROSOL PAINTS

Luxecolor 2K aerosol paints combine the best paint material, 2K fluorinated polyurethane, with aerosol application convenience.

2 K aerosol provides a easy way to apply the complicated fluorinated polyurethane paint without care about how to preparing the complex system. The 2 K formulation contains two mutual reactive components, a catalyst, and other ingredients.

Proper cleaning of substrate is required. Surface must dry, clean, without any loss rust, silicone, grease, oil, wax and other contaminates.

If no oil, grease, or silicone contamination, even a metal can be painted directly by simple remove loss rust with sand paper.

For contaminated surfaces use medium concentrate detergent to remove grease, wax and other contaminants (silicone require sanding and polychlorinated solvent to clean it up) ; Use water and clean sponge to thoroughly wash detergent off ; Final sanding with #200 - #600 sand paper, Rinsing with clean water, Dry with lint-free and clean cloth; Allow surface dry completely; Prime bare metal with 2 K primer; and mask surrounding area.

HOW TO USE 2K AEROSOL

Activate and mixing 2 K components is a critical step: (1) Rotate aerosol can to familiarize the sound of a vial colliding with the aerosol can; (2) Use two hand and firmly hold aerosol can with stretch two arm, risen to higher position and suddenly pulling down with fast movement to beak a vial, it require repeat 3-5 times; (3) Rotate the aerosol can to check collision sound, if no colliding vial sound and only broken glass can be heard, go to next step, otherwise go back to step 2;  (4) Shake aerosol can for 5 minutes to mixing 2K components.

Application: Target the nozzle 5-7 inch distances with steady, even strokes. Spray "wet" coat. Tack free time is 5-10 minutes, cure time is 6-8 hours. 2 K aerosol should used up in 8 hours after activation. After 10 hours, the aerosol formation becomes difficult.

Preparation: Checking color match carefully. Rub with xylene to test surface before spray. If surface become soft or lifting with orange shape skin, thorough remove this area until see bare metal. Use 2 K primer to cover bare metal.

Luxecolor aerosol is equipped with a special nozzle to emit a fan-shaped paint spray.

Luxecolor 2K aerosol contains approx. 340 grams of paint and with 35% solids which is enough for painting an area of 2 m2 or 20-25 square foot area.

Application Notice:

For high gloss surface using extra fine sending paper (400-600 grit) gently rub the surfaces and carefully remove the dust following by washing and dry.

Use tape, thick paper (not news paper) to protect any areas you do not want to paint.

Ensure adequate ventilation and use personal protective wear.

KEEP MOVING and PAINTING thin and wet looking layer at a distance of 15-20 cm (6-8 inch) from the surface to be painted. Do not apply too thick! It will caused "run down and dripping".

Clean the aerosol nozzle after painting by turning the can upside down and pressing the nozzle until only propellant gas comes out. Remove any fresh splashes or defects.

How to coat fluorinated polyurethane on acrylic or carbonate substrates?

The solvents in 2K fluorourethane will dissolve the coating substrates such as acrylic (polyester), carbonate, and 1K paints. To avoid dissolve those materials too deep, spray coating 2K fluorinated polyurethane lightly, one or two layers to build THIN FILMS of fluorinated polyurethane. Waiting for 2K polyurethane to dry, it will take 4 to 6 hours. The dried fluoro-polyurethane provide a solvent barrier. After that, one can coat on the top of the fluorinated polyurethane with ¡°wet¡± fluorinated polyurethane coating.

The whole content in the aerosol can must be used during 8 hours after activation.

Luxecolor 2k aerosol paints contains butyl acetate, acetone and MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) as a solvent.

Luxecolor 2k aerosol paints are propelled by DME (dimethyl ether) gas, which does not harm the ozone layer. The paint spray is highly flammable and should never be used near open flame or glowing objects, or in places where static electricity could cause sparking or discharge. Smoking is prohibited where Luxecolor 2k aerosol paint is being applied.

Use Luxecolor products outdoors or only in adequately ventilated spaces. Always wear suitable protective face mask with organic vapor cartridge, clothing to cover whole body, gloves and eye protection. Store aerosol cans in cool, ventilated area. When transported, keep automobile cool. Do not puncture used containers or dispose of by burning, even when empty.

Our fluorinated polyurethane is PFOS and PFOA free product.

On market all PTFE including Du Pont Tefron contain at least 200 ppm PFOA or PFOS.

PFOS, PFOA and other low molecular weight perfluoro surfactants are dangerous, bio-cumulative pollutants. Animal test showed they are carcinogen, and cause liver tumors in animals. Human population statistics shown that PFOS and PFOA increase breast cancers, birth defects, high cholesterol, and etc.. However human including babies, of four continents, and animals all over the world have been contaminated with PFOA and PFOS. PFOA and PFOS have been accumulated in protein, liver, and blood.  For human, the main route is the anti-stain papers for food package and dust particles from anti-stain carpets, non-stick cooking ware, and food chains. All animal accumulate PFOA and PFOS from water and food chains.

A new product, LuxeColor SS-1, is 2K aerosol stone sealer for granite surfaces. It contains micronized PTFE, and is PFOS and PFOA free.

2K aerosol paints for industrial coatings have the 120 color shades as shown in our color cards.

The color match to a color shade require 14 days ahead time and a minimum 1 case (24 cans) order
